Global community faces a number of security issues as a result of globalisation
National boundaries are less of a barrier and easier travel means more fluid flows of products and people
Provides opportunities to reduce traditional security measures but also faces threats

Terrorism- screening and monitoring movements by security forces, counter-terrorism
Food imports- ensuring products meet required safety standards
Biosecurity- preventing introduction and spread of harmful organisms to minimise risk of transmission of infectious diseases

Cyber crime-reliance on the internet had led to breaches of secure info, can lead to online fraud and other cyber crimes
Supply chains- securing supply chains is critical for international manufacturing businesses. Supply chain security involves ensuring products are authentic and can travel through border
Mitigating threats
The World Customs Organization has introduced idea of ‘Authorised Economic Operators’ (AEO’s) to tackle some issues relating trade security
AEO status awarded to export and import operators who meet a range of maximum standard criteria
