Explain section 170 of the road traffic act 1988?

A

Where, owing to the presentlce of a mechanically propelled vehicle on a road, or other public place, an accident occurs whereby

  1. personal injury ia caused to a person other than the driver of that vehicle or
  2. Damage is caused to a vehicle other than that vehicle or trailer drawn by that vehicle or
  3. To an animal other than an animal in or on that vehicle or trailer being drawn by that vehicle or
  4. To any other property constructed on, fixed to, growing in or otherwise forming part of the land on which the road or place in question is situated or land adjacent to such land

The driver of that vehicle MUST stop and exchange his name and address (and name and address of owner), along with identification marks of the vehicle

If for any reason he does not, he must report the, if accident within 24 hours, if he fails to do so, he commits an offence
