Blocks or Airspace which flights are prohibited

Controlled Firing Areas
Activities are discontinued if aircraft is spotted around area. Aircraft are not required to chance flight plan.
National Security Areas (NSA)
These are establish at locations where increase security and safety of ground facility is needed.
Sometimes may be prohibited
Aircraft are requested to voluntarily avoid area
Airport Advisory Areas
Extends 10 statue miles from airports where there is a Flight Service Station located on the field and no operating control tower.
Contact FSS on published CTAF prior to entering area
Military Training Routes (MTR)
Conducts Low and High Altitude Military Training
Not restricted
Check with FSS within 100 nautical miles to obtain MTR activities in area
MTR are classified as VR or IR
MTR with no segment above 1500 ft AGL are identified by four numbers (ex.VR1574)
MTR with one or more segments above 1,500 ft AGL are identified by three numbers (ex. IR503)
Military aircraft are normally operated at speeds excess of 250 knots along MTR’s
Temporary Flight Restrictions
Imposed by FAA to protect persons or property on the surface or in the air from hazard or situations.
FAA with issue a NOTAM
Ex. toxic spill, volcanic eruption, nuclear incident, aircraft hijacking, forest fires.
Flight Limitation and Restrictions
These are in proximity of Space Flight Operations
Also area can be restricted if the president, vice-president or other public figures whom attract large number of people.
NOTAM is issued
Parachute Jump Aircraft Areas
Are found in AIrport/Facility Directory
Can be identified by parachute symbol
Terminal Radar Service Areas (TRSA)
Gray lines
Non Control Airspace
Approach Control can give Radar service within TRSA, not mandatory
Emergency Air Traffic Rules
FAA issues a NOTAM
Air Traffic Control system could not operate efficiently and safely and must keep all aircraft away until further notice.
Air Defense Identification Zones (ADIZ)
Located on the boarder between US and MX, Alaska
Must file an IFR or defense VFR (DVFR) flight plan to enter or exit an ADIZ
Must have Transponder with Mode-C and a two-way radio to make periodic position reports
