Section Daytime Flight Procedures Flashcards
Daytime taxi interval
150’ staggered
Taxi interval at night or poor taxiway conditions
300’ on centerline
Which side of the runway will lead take
Left (no wind) or the downwind side
After runup checks are complete you will inspect the other all for:
Leaking fluids, tire inflation, launch bar, nose wheel straight, pins out, flaps and slats set, doors’ and panels secure, speed brakes in, canopy closed
Interval for interval t/o:
7 seconds
From sop: min runway width for 2 aircraft? 3? 4?
100 feet, 150 feet, 200 feet
Interval takeoff sequence
Lead rolls out onto left or downwind sideof the runway, get aligned on bearing line, lead calls for run-up checks inspect other aircraft and give thumbs up, lead then goes wait 7 seconds, you go, at 500’ and clean lead will set 92-94%.
When do sympathetic aborts apply?
FTI: during interval t/o below 80kts
Sop: during interval t/o below high speed abort speed
What does “only good news” mean?
During an aborted take off any communication is assumed to mean that you are clearing lead for the arresting gear
When are section takeoffs not authorized?
Wet runway, dissimilar external stores, crosswinds > 10 knots, runway less than 8,000 x150’
Section T/O Procedures
Lined up on runway and on bearing, lead signals for run up checks. Lead pulls power back to 98%, receives thumbs up from wingman. Lead raises arm vertically, pauses, then smartly drops his arm. As his arm drops below the canopy rail, both aircraft release their brakes. Wingman can tap the brakes once immediately after beginning his roll, and then power controls bearing and rudder controls horizontal separation.
Signal to bring the gear up on section T/O:
Once airborne and 140kts, lead nods his head distinctly forward and back. When his head hits the headrest gear and flaps come up. Lead will then look for a head nod or thumbs up from the wingman indicating that he is clean good handle below 200.
Section T/O aborts
From FTI: immediately after brake release both aircraft can abort, otherwise sympathetic aborts do not apply.
From SOP: There SHALL be no sympathetic aborts
Procedure: Non aborting aircraft will go MRT, maintain their side of the runway, and takeoff. Once airborne the aborting aircraft can take centerline. If both aircraft must abort, maintain your side of the runway, if wingman does not transmit “CLEAR” over the tac freq then lead is obligated to pass up the long field gear.
What are the three types of rendezvous?
Runner, CV, Tacan
CV Rendezvous Procedure:
Lead initiates climbing 30 deg AOB turn. Wing gets inside his turn to intercept bearing line, and climbs to put lead on the horizon, once on bearing decrease AOB to not go acute, maintain less than 10kts closure when within 1000 feet. When within 100ft (3 wingspans) increase step down by 15ft and nose to tail 10ft and then moves into parade turn away position.
