What are nouns?
A noun names a person, a place or a thing

What is a proper noun?
*A proper noun names a specific person ,place or thing
*Proper nouns begin with a capital letter

What is a common noun?
*A common noun names a every day object and a person place or thing
*e.g.:table,apple
What is a collective noun?
*a Collective Noun names a collection or group of objects
*e.g.:a school of fish ,a forest of trees
What is a Abstract Noun?
An Abstract noun names ideas or qualities(you cannot put abstract nouns into a box
*e.g.:joy,peace,wish
What are pronouns?
Pronouns replace the noun it the sentence
Why ?
It replaces the noun so that you don’t have to keep repeating the noun
What are verb tenses
Present,past, future
How do you use present tense
I am dancing
How do you use past tense?
I was dancing

A verb is a doing word

What is a conjunction?
A conjunction joins sentences or phrases together
What are 3 types of conjunctions?
Coordinating, Subordinating,correlative
What is a coordinating conjunction?
It is used to connect words,phrases, clauses and sentences together.

What is a Subordinating conjunction?
A Subordinating conjunction is a word or phrase that links a dependent clause to an independent clause

What is a correlative conjunction?
A pair of words that join two clauses or groups of words to balance the sentence
What is a prefix?
A prefix is a part added to the beginning of a word that changes the words meaning
What is a suffix?
A suffix is a word part that is added to the beginning of a word that changes the words meaning
What is a root word
The core part of the word is called its roots .also called the stem
It is also a word that can stand on its own
What are synonyms?
Synonyms are words that are similar to eachother
What are antonyms?
Antonyms are words that are the complete opposite
What is an adjective?
Adjectives are describing words
*They describe the noun in the sentence
What is an adverb?
An adverb is a word that describes a verb

Adverb of time,place and manner
