What are some issues with personal data being on the internet?

A

-Personal privacy: A lot of data are collected as a matter of routine and individuals may have not realised they consented.

-Misuse of data: Data collected for one purpose are used for different purposes. In many cases people are concerned there personal data is used by the government to monitor individuals

-Profiling: large originations often accumulate data in order to build a profile of users

Name 3 moral/social issues:

A

-Unauthorized access: Hackers gain access to systems to commit fraud

-Inappropriate behaviour/content: posting inappropriate content eg porn. Or people acting different online as they think there are not consequences.

-Freedom of speech: some people think that you should be able to day whatever you want, and the internet somewhat gives people access to do that.

A

Having something like a code of conduct which should:
-always operate in the public’s interest
-have a duty to the profession
-mauntain professional competence and integrity

What are five key cultural issues related to technology?

A

1.Over-use of data: Society increasingly depends on data collected by organisations, influencing major decisions.

  1. Invasive technologies: Data is collected without consent, e.g., satellite images and property websites exposing personal details.
  2. Over-reliance on computers: System failures can lead to data loss or even physical harm in critical situations.
  3. ‘Big Brother’ culture: Growing surveillance through CCTV and digital monitoring raises concerns about privacy and control.
  4. Globalisation: Technology connects cultures, influencing beliefs, politics, and religion through global interactions.
