Q

How do you find the density of a liquid?

A
  • Find the mass of the measuring cylinder by placing it on a balance, then fill it with the liquid, and measure the new mass. The different in masses is the mass of the liquid.
  • The volume can be read from the cylinder
  • Find density using Density = mass/volume

Q

How do you find the density of a solid?

A
  • measure the mass of a solid by placing it on the balance
  • then immerse the solid in water, and measure the volume of water displaced, this is the volume of the solid
  • use density = mass/volume

Q

When does melting occur?

A
