section 4 -caring and monitoring staff members Flashcards
responsibility one - NOS
organisations are responsible for ensuring staff follow NOS
Responsibility 2- code of conduct
Codes of Practice (sometimes called Codes of Conduct) are standards of behaviour that professional bodies (like the NMC, GMC and HCPC) set out for professionals to follow.
Professionals must prove they are meeting the codes of practice by creating a portfolio of evidence that can be used during revalidation procedures.
The Health and Social Care Act states that employers must ensure all staff know how to meet their codes of practice.
Responsibility 3 - continuing personal development
CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development; whether a staff member is a member of a professional body or not, they must all be working to become better at their job roles.
This means that employers have to develop the skills of everyone in their setting, not just the professionals at the top of the career ladder.
Responsibility 4 - safeguarding of employees
Trade unions
Complaints policy
Protocols to regulatory bodies
Whistleblowing
What happens during an inspection?
The inspection teams will make judgements on the quality of provision. The CQC publishes National Minimum Standards (NMS) of provision and will be checking to see that these are met through evidence from:
• Feedback from service users, their families and friends and from staff at the setting
• Written reports of care practice and procedures
• Information from other linked local organisations
• Records of complaints
• On-site inspection of practice care provision
