A

General Montgomery staged a massive frontal attack against Rommel’s forces in Egypt.

A

As Rommel retreated West, Eisenhower’s army sandwiched him between his & Montgomery’s forces. Rommel’s forces were crushed by May 1943

A

At the start of the summer, Hitler ordered his troops to seize oil fields and take Stalingrad.
The Luftwaffe bombed the city and went on to control 90% of it.

Soviet soldiers surrounded the city & cut off their supplies. The winter also froze soldiers, but Hitler refused to order a retreat. German soldiers surrendered and were pushed westward.

British and American forces invaded and took Sicily, Italy. Victor Emmanuel III had Mussolini arrested & shortly after, Italy surrendered.

A

A

Factories entered into wartime production (producing boots, guns, bullets). 17-18 million people got jobs at this time.
