What is weather?
The RIGHT NOW state of the atmosphere - temperature?humidity, rain? wind? hail? snow? air pressure?
How do we describe TYPES of weather conditions?
Temperature, Humidity, Precipitation, Air Pressure, Wind, and Visibility.
How can humans protect themselves from hazardous weather?
- Plan ahead - have flashlights, emergency food, blankets, batteries, etc.
- Listen for Storm Updates
- Follow Safety plans that you’ve learned.
What are the different types of clouds?
Cirrus, Cumulus, Stratus
Cirrus Clouds
Feathery and wispy like a curl of hair.
Cumulus Clouds
Piles of cotton that grow taller.
Stratus Clouds
Spread out flat and low.
What is precipitation?
Any form of water that falls to Earth’s surface from the clouds. Rain, Snow, Hail, and Sleet.
How is rain measured?
With a rain gauge.
How is snow measured?
With a meter stick
What is air pressure?
The force of air molecules pushing on an area.
How is air pressure measured?
With a barometer.
