Learn multiple ways to deploy apps to your computers and mobile devices.
What is the purpose of System Integrity Protection (SIP)?
SIP is a security technology designed to help prevent potentially malicious software from modifying protected files and folders on your Mac.
SIP prevents third-party apps and installers from writing to the following locations:
* /System
* /usr
* /bin
* /sbin
* /var
* Apps that are pre-installed with macOS
Refer to the App Resource Domains and Preferences lesson.
Where in macOS are user preferences stored?
~/Library
Refer to the App Resource Domains and Preferences lesson.
When using App Installers, what’s the difference between a “Failed” and an “Unqualified” deployment status?
A “Failed” status indicates that the target computers failed to meet the compatibility criteria that the app requires (e.g., minimum macOS version). An “Unqualified” status indicates that there’s a conflict with the deployment (e.g., two or more app installer deployments were configured for a single computer with the same app).
Refer to the App Installers lesson.
