Weimar political system and Nazi appeal
- Multiple party system, where a number of parties could get a high amount of votes but none so high that Germany became run by a 1 party government
- Many parties were sectional and so people changing their votes was difficult unless in a time of extreme circumstance
- Statistics show that the Nazis main voting audience some of the working class but mainly middle classes due to the SPD/Centre party’s consistent hold on the working class while the middle class parties collapsed as the Nazis skyrocketed

- Already disillusioned by the Weimar government
- Hitler’s drive and charisma
- Fear of Communism

- Possibly German nationalism
- Fear of Communism
- Nazi promise to provide “work and bread”
