1 The khilafat of Hazrat Usman saw a wave of quick conquests
2 Hazrat Anas was worried that the new converts in the countries won in conquests, such as Syria and Iraq were reciting the Quran in different ways
3 Hazrat Anas shared these concerns with the third rightly caliph, Hazrat Usman, and requested him to take immediate action so that there’s no chance of a rift among the Muslim community.
4 Hazrat Usman acquired Mashaf-ul-Hafsa from Hazrat Hafsa. He then used that copy and appointed Zaid bin Sabit and three other knowledgeable Muslims who assisted to make copies of the Quran from the original text. The were told to follow the dialect of Quraish in case of differences over the language, as Quran had been revealed in that dialect.
5 The Quran was read out loudly from beginning to end from the Prophet’s mosque from these copies of Quran. This was to make sure that there’s no doubt in people’s mind that any changes have been introduced.
6 These copies were then dispatched to every capital of every province and it was ordered that all future copies be written just as the original one.
7 It was ordered that other copies be destroyed by fire.
8 Hazrat Usman is known as Jami-ul- Quran.
9 Jami-ul-Quran means that Hazrat Usman that he brought Muslims around to a uniform reading of Quran.
10 The Quran we read today is the same Quran as in the time of Hazrat Abu Bakr. No additions, subtractions or edits have been made.
11 The arrangement of chapters and verses are in same order as proclaimed by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) in accordance with divine instructions.
