Section 2 - ADM Guidelines and tools Flashcards
What are the ADM guidelines and techniques?
- Using the TOGAM ADM in the context of a specific Architectural style
- Architect Principles
- Stakeholder Management
- Architecture Patterns
- Business Scenarios
- Gap Analysis
- Migration Planning Techniques
- Interoperability Requirements
- Business Transformation Readiness Assessment
- Risk Management
- Capability Based Planning
What are Architecture Principles?
An enduring set of general rules and guidelines about architecture
Not intended to change very often
Defined during the preliminary phase
Servers as a statement by which you can make decisions
What are the Five elements of a Good Principle?
- Understandability
- Robustness
- Completeness
- Consistency
- Stability
What is the TOGAF definition of a stakeholder?
An individual, team, or organisation, or class thereof, having an interest in a system.
Know who are the most powerful stakeholders.
Identify problems and conflicts early in order to avoid them.
What is the concept of an architecture pattern?
An idea that has been useful in one practical context and will probably be useful in others.
How do Architecture patterns help you?
Tells you when to uses the, why you are using them, how to use them, and their limitations.
(Best Practices)
What are the 4 parts of a business scenario?
- A business process, application, or set of applications.
- The business and technology environment
- The people and software (“Actors”) involved
- What it is the desired outcome.
Anyone should be able to understand a business problem and solution by reading the business scenario. (A neatly laid out business case)
What Key steps is GAP analysis used in the ADM?
In the BDAT phases and migration planning ( Phases B to E)
What is Gap Analysis?
Comparing the Baseline architecture with the Target architecture.
Gaps are anything added, changed or intentionally omitted.
Will also identify things accidentally omitted.
Explain why things have been added or removed.
What are the Five Tools used in Phase F - Migration Planning?
- Implementation Factor Assessment & Deduction Matrix
- Consolidation Gaps, Solutions & Dependencies Matrix
- Architecture definitions increments Table
- Transition Architecture state evolution Table
- Business Value Assessment Technique
What is the TOGAF definition of Interoperability?
The ability to share information and services. (3 types)
How business teams work together
How data shared.
How technical services connected to one another.
How is the Business Readiness Transformation Assessment (BRTA) tool defined?
Evaluating and quantifying an organisation’s readiness to undergo change
What are the Five recommended activities for Business Readiness Transformation Assessment (BRTA)?
- Determine the readiness factors that will impact the organisation.
- Present the readiness factors using maturity models
- Assess the readiness factors, including determination of readiness factor ratings
- Assess the risks for each readiness factor and identify improvement actions to mitigate the risk
- Work these actions into phase E and F implementation and migration plan
