Skinner box-BF skinner
Pressed lever accidently
Lever was pressed rat would receive food pellets
Rat was deprived of food
Operant conditioning
Ppl learn to do actions because of consequences
Reinforcement
Stimulus increases the chance that the behavior will happen again
Primary reinforcers
Biological needs *food water and warmth
Secondary reinforcers
Learned value
*money, attention! and social approval
Positive reinforcers
Increase the frequency of the behavior when they are applied
Negative reinforcers
Increase the behavior after they are removed
Schedules of reinforcement
How often the reinforcement occurs
Partial reinforcement
Behavior not reinforced every time it occurs
Continuous reinforcement
Reinforcement of behavior every time it occurs
What are the two schedules?
Ratio, interval
Fixed interval schedule
Amount of time must elapse between reinforcement
Variable interval schedule
Varying amounts of time go by between reinforcements
Fixed ratio schedule
Reinforcements is provided after a fixed number of correct responses
Variable ratio schedule
Reinforcement can come after any correct response
