During a vehicle inspection, how should the operator check the coolant. 

A

The operator should look at the site glass on the radiator or coolant reservoir. Adequate level will show on the site glass. If no site glass is available the operator must remove the cap and look inside.

Check the belts for snugness, 1/2” - 3/4” play at the center of the belt, cracks, frays, loose fibers or signs of wear.

A

A

The operator should pump the brake pedal three times, then hold it down for five seconds. The brake pedal should not move during the five seconds.

During a vehicle inspection, how should the operator perform an air brake check?

A

Once proper operating air pressure is present, shut off engine leaving the battery in the on position. Chalk wheels. Release parking break. Apply foot break and hold for one minute. Check for pressure drop of more than 3 pounds in one minute. Then, pump brakes until alarm activates between 55 and 60 psi. Continue to pump brakes until air brake pops on at approximately 40 psi.
