During a vehicle inspection, how should the operator check the coolant. 
The operator should look at the site glass on the radiator or coolant reservoir. Adequate level will show on the site glass. If no site glass is available the operator must remove the cap and look inside.
During a vehicle inspection, the operator should check the belts in the engine department for snugness. How much play is acceptable at the center of the belt and what else should they operator look for?
Check the belts for snugness, 1/2” - 3/4” play at the center of the belt, cracks, frays, loose fibers or signs of wear.
During a vehicle inspection, at what psi should the air governor “cut off” which indicates proper operating pressure?
The air governor should cut out at approximately 120 to 140 psi
During a vehicle inspection, how should the operator test a hydraulic brake system?
The operator should pump the brake pedal three times, then hold it down for five seconds. The brake pedal should not move during the five seconds.
During a vehicle inspection, how should the operator perform an air brake check?
Once proper operating air pressure is present, shut off engine leaving the battery in the on position. Chalk wheels. Release parking break. Apply foot break and hold for one minute. Check for pressure drop of more than 3 pounds in one minute. Then, pump brakes until alarm activates between 55 and 60 psi. Continue to pump brakes until air brake pops on at approximately 40 psi.
During a vehicle inspection, when checking service breaks, how fast should the operator drive the apparatus before applying the service brake and checking for pulling and proper function?
Drive the vehicle forward at about 5 mph, apply the service brake and stop. Note any abnormalities
When performing a vehicle inspection, how much movement is acceptable when manually applying the slack adjuster pushrod?
The slack adjuster should move not more than 1 inch when pulled by hand
When performing a vehicle inspection, what is the minimum tread depth for front tires in for rear tires?
The minimum tread depth for front tires is 4/32 of an inch and the minimum tread depth for rear tires is 2/32 of an inch.
