Section 1 - Terms Flashcards
utilizes MapReduce tiering technology to insure data is intelligently places in the optimal storage tier (SSD or HDD) for the fastest performance
Storage Tiers
a logical segmentation of the storage pool and contains a group of VMs and files (vDisks). These are usually mapped to hosts as shared storage in the form of a NFS Share or a SMB Share.
Containers
A of physical storage devices, including SSD and HDD drives, for the cluster. Can span multiple Nutanix nodes and is expanded as the cluster scales.
Storage Pools
a group of Nutanix nodes that form a distributed platform. This platform is presented to the hypervisors like any other central storage array, however all I/O’s are handled locally for performance.
Distributed Storage Fabric
- Storage Pools
- Containers
- vDisks
Nutanix Data Structure
Nutanix Cluster component that is the data I/O manger for the cluster.
Stargate
Nutanix Cluster component that is the access interface for Cassandra.
Medusa
Nutanix Cluster component that is the distributed metadata store.
Cassandra
Nutanix Cluster component that handles MapReduce cluster mgmt & clean up.
Curator
Nutanix Cluster component that manages cluster configuration.
Zookeeper
Nutanix Cluster component that is the access interface for Zookeeper.
Zeus
Prism
Central Mgmt Interface
Solid-State Drives are considered?
Metadata Drive
A subset of storage on SSD drives that is distributed to other SSD drives on cluster nodes
OPLOG
NX platform for Branch office.
