adducting
to draw (as a limb) toward or past the median axis of the body; also : to bring together (similar parts)
atrophy
decrease in size or wasting away of a body part or tissue
Cheyne-stokes respirations
cyclic breathing marked by a gradual increase in the rapidity of respiration followed by a gradual decrease and total cessation
Circumduction
movement of a limb or extremity so that the distal end describes a circle while the proximal end remains fixed
Contractures
a permanent shortening (as of muscle, tendon, or scar tissue) producing deformity or distortion
Eversion
the act of turning inside out
flexion
a bending movement around a joint in a limb (as the knee or elbow) that decreases the angle between the bones of the limb at the joint
foot drop
an extended position of the foot caused by paralysis of the flexor muscles of the leg
Isokinetic excercise
Exercise performed with a specialized apparatus that provides variable resistance to a movement, so that no matter how much effort is exerted, the movement takes place at a constant speed. Such exercise is used to test and improve muscular strength and endurance, especially after injury
Isometric excercise
a program of exercises in which a muscle group is tensed against another muscle group or an immovable object so that the muscles may contract without shortening.
Korotkoff sounds
arterial sounds heard through a stethoscope(need to figure out at what point you hear the sounds)
Orthopnea
difficulty in breathing that occurs when lying down and is relieved upon changing to an upright position aka positional dyspnea
Orthostatic Hypotension
low blood pressure occurring in some people when they stand up
Pulse pressure

Systolic-diastolic= Pulse pressure
Pyrexia
abnormal elevation of body temperature
TPR
Temperature, pulse, respiration

Dermatitis
inflammation of the skin—called also dermitis
Ecchymosis
the escape of blood into the tissues from ruptured blood vessels marked by a livid black-and-blue or purple spot or area

Edema
an abnormal excess accumulation of serous fluid in connective tissue or in a serous cavity
Eschar
a scab formed especially after a burn
fissures
a natural cleft between body parts or in the substance of an organ: as a : any of several clefts separating the lobes of the liver b : any of various clefts between bones or parts of bones in the skull
furuncle
Boil
Induration
an increase in the fibrous elements in tissue commonly associated with inflammation and marked by loss of elasticity and pliability
Keratosis
a disease of the skin marked by overgrowth of horny tissue
Maceration
an act or the process of macerating something; especially : the extraction of a drug by allowing it to stand in contact with a solvent
Macule
a patch of skin that is altered in color but usually not elevated and that is a characteristic feature of various diseases (as smallpox)
Melanoma
a benign or malignant skin tumor containing dark pigment
nodule
a small mass of rounded or irregular shape: as a : a small abnormal knobby bodily protuberance (as a tumorous growth or a calcification near an arthritic joint)
Pallor
deficiency of color especially of the face : paleness <patients in hemorrhagic shock may exhibit extreme pallor
Papule
a small solid usually conical elevation of the skin caused by inflammation, accumulated secretion, or hypertrophy of tissue elements
Pediculosis
infestation with lice
petechiae
a minute reddish or purplish spot containing blood that appears in skin or mucous membrane as a result of localized hemorrhage
Pruritus
localized or generalized itching due to irritation of sensory nerve endings
psoriasis
a chronic skin disease characterized by circumscribed red patches covered with white scales
Pustule
a small circumscribed elevation of the skin containing pus and having an inflamed base
Scabies
