What are the five steps for preparing a vehicle for inspection
- Explain the procedure
- Explain hand signals
- Place chock blocks
- Prepare the vehicle
- Check ABS malfunction lamps
When explaining the procedure you should?
- Explain to the driver that the inspection will start at the front of the vehicle and processed counter clockwise down the left side of the vehicle
- Instruct the driver to remain at the controls and only do what he or she is told
What are the Seven steps when preparing the driver for inspection.
- Inspector will place chock blocks
- Place vehicle transmission out of gear
- Verify presence of driver seat.
- Release all breaks.
- Make sure the air pressure is at the max.
- Turn engine off.
- Turn key to on position.
What are the five major inspections items for the front of the tractor
- Head lamps
- Turn signals
- Windshield wipers/ washer
- Horn
- Required lamps
When Inspect left front side of tractor. What are the two major inspections items?
- Left front wheel, rims, and hub
- Left front tire
What are the two most common type of wheels?
- Disc type wheel
- Spoke type wheel
What is a Hub Piloted wheel?
Hub piloted wheel have only one stud and dual flange nut
What is a stud piloted wheel?
Stud piloted wheel have an inner stud, and outer stud and outer cap
What is the major thread groove on steering axle tire?
Must be at least 3mm (4/32”)deep
When is there a violation or defect on thread depth?
Thread depth taken at any point on a tire that is “LESS THAN” 3mm (4/32”)
What are the two major inspections point. When inspecting the left saddle tank area.
1.Left fuel tank
2. Exhaust system.
When checking the general condition of the tank. What are some inspections items you are looking for?
- Loose mounting (straps)
- Leaks
- Other damage
- Loose or missing caps
