All storms seem to come from the north. A storm is coming so it is probably coming from the north
- What is extrinsic reinforce
Using rewards as motivation (money, candy, recess, etc)
- What is an affective filter
Conditions that inhibit learning - laughing at students, correcting every error etc create a high affective filter
- What is self-regulated learning
Taking control of learning goals and being aware of strengths and weaknesses in learning

Belief that childhood to puberty is prime time to learn new languages
- What is language experience approach
Students turn language into writing- visit hospital, draw pic and write about it, read aloud to class
- What is a multi sensory approach
All senses are used in lessons- students read about apples, taste and smell apples, count seeds, etc
- What is the natural approach
Focusing on communicative skills rather than grammar- creating a stress-free environment to learn language
