Nurse-

If only the kneel of the Argos did not need to fly through the dark blue Symplegades to the land of Colchis. If only the pine tree was not cut and felled in the groves of Pelion, and used for oars for the hands of the best men who were on a quest for the golden fleece for Pelias. For then my mistress, Medea would not have sailed to the towers of Iolcis’s land, her heart struck by love for Jason, and she would not have persuaded the daughters of Pelias to kill their father, and would not have settled in this land of Corinth.

Question 2

Answer 2

With her husband and children, she pleased the citizens to whose land she came as a refugee, in order to be useful to Jason himself in all things - the very thing which happens to be the greatest well-being, whenever a wife does not disagree with her husband.
But now everything is hateful, and their great love is sick.

For Jason has betrayed his children and my mistress and is lying in royal wedlock, having married the daughter of Creon, who rules the land. Wretched Medea has been dishonoured, and she cries to the oaths, and invokes the great trust of his right hand, and she calls the gods as witnesses to what sort of answer/return she meets with from Jason.
