Q

George Mendel

A
  • Study genetics in the 1850s and determine the laws of genetic traits described as;
    • autosomal dominant
    • autosomal recessive

Q

Multifactorial inheritance

A
  • multiple alleles at different Loci affect the phenotype
  • environment influences also play a role
  • ex = height - genes, nutrition, and hormones

Q

Sex linked disorders

A
  • Carried on the sex chromosomes
  • many are linked to the X chromosome and are usually recessive
  • females have two copies of the X-chromosome and they are carriers of the disease
  • males only have one copy of the X chromosome and are more likely to be affected by the sorter
  • ex = hemophilia
