What is ethology?
The study of animal behavior
What is unconditioned response?
A simple reflex behavior, like salvation or knee jerk reflex
What is an conditioned response?
Using a bell when u feed your dog then when he hears the bell he knows it is time to eat and he begins to salivate.
What is behaviorism?
Behavior is learned rather than genetically programmed.
What is Stimulus response theory
All complex forms of behavior including emotions, thoughts, and habits are complex muscular and glandular responses that can be observed and measured.
Define classical conditioning
The association of stimuli that occurs at approximately the same time or in roughly the same area.
Define operant conditioning
Works on the principal of associating a certain activity know as the operant with punishment or reward
Define sociobiology
The study of biological bases of the social behavior , seeks to extend the concept of natural selection to the social behavior of animals.
Fixed action patterns are
Stereotypical or predictable behavior.
Instincts are
Inherited or genetically coded responses to environmental stimuli
Positive reinforcement
Any immediate pleasant occurrence that follows a behavior
Negative reinforcement
An immediate unpleasant behavior occurrence used to create desired behavior
Positive punishment
Adding an undesirable occurrence to decrease a behavior
Negative punishment
Involves removing a desirable occupancy to decrease a behavior
