Section one begins with 5 male dancers on stage stationary, one male dancer ‘rooster struts’ across the stage to the spotlight.
Describe the rooster strut
Starting downstage right, the dancer sharply struts forward with his arms bent at the elbow and wrists relaxed out front. He does this whilst cocking his head forward on each beat, he does this into the spotlight, this all correlated with the lyric ‘I am the little red rooster’
How can we see that the males have the most power in section 1?
Beginning - five males begin on stage, whole dance starts and ends with men
Manipulation- male dancers manipulate single female dancer by the wrists, showing power over her.
Space- male dancers take up the most space in this section
Lyrics- ‘I am the little red rooster’ only the male dancer is the little red rooster.
