Section 1 Flashcards
End Users
An essential part of any project and their input and feedback play a role in ensuring the project’s success because the end users are the ones utilizing the product or service.
The role of end users can vary depending on the nature of the project, end users are vital to any project outcome.
What are the key responsibilities of partners?
Defining the project’s scope, contributing expertise, providing resources, collaborating with other partners, meeting project deadlines, managing project risks, and communicating effectively.
Partners
This can refer to individuals or organizations involved in the project’s development, objections, and execution. Are often external individuals or organizations and their responsibilities.
What are the key responsibilities of researchers?
Developing substantial research questions, conducting lit. review, designing and executing research studies, collecting data, interpreting results, providing recommendations, and ensuring research integrity.
Researchers
To conduct research to support the project’s objectives and provide evidence-based insights. Design and execute research studies, collect and analyze data, and interpret research findings to provide key insights and recommend to project stakeholders during a project cycle.
Key responsibilities of a database administrator include:
Database installation and maintenance, database security, database backup, recovery , and archiving database performance.
Database administrator:
Ensures that a project’s data is organized, secure and easily accessible. Their primary responsibility is to install and maintain the project’s database system; ensure data security, backup, recovery, and archiving of the database, and optimize system performance.
Responsibilities of financial operations
Budgeting, financial reporting, cost control, procurement, risk management, funding.
Financial operations
Primary responsibility is to ensure that the project’s financial resources are managed efficiently and effectively to achieve its objective. They also monitor and optimize the project’s financial resources to achieve goals.
What are some of the responsibilities of the project manager
Planning, resource management, communication, team management, quality assurance, monitoring and controlling.
What are the skills of a project manager
Leadership, communication, organization, problem-solving, and knowledge of project management methologies
Project manager
Leads the team to plan, execute, and complete a project within specific time constraints, such as time, budget, and resources.
Responsible for ensuring that the project meets its goals and objectives while managing the risks and completing the project within the agreed scope
What are a project sponsors responsibilities?
Defining the project’s business outcome, providing project funding, providing project oversight, providing project support, and approving project deliverables.
Project sponsor
Also helps to ensure the projects success and is responsible for providing necessary support and resources to remove barriers that may prevent or hinder the success of a project
Project sponsor
Plays a critical role in ensuring the project is aligned with the organizations purpose and delivers the expected business value and goals.
Key stakeholders
Project sponsor, project manager, financial operations, database administrator, researchers, partners, end user(customers)
Is anyone who can be affected by any actions decisions, and outcomes from a data analytics project.
Data scientists functions:
Data analysis, data visualization, data cleaning, A/B testing, machine learning, data storytelling, collaboration, experimentation, continuous improvement
What are data scientists responsible for?
They are responsible for collecting and processing large volumes of data, analyzing the data to identify patterns and trends, and building models to make predictions and recommendations based on the data. They use programming languages like R, and SQL to process and analyze the data.
Data scientist
Is a professional that uses statistical machine learning and programming skills to analyze and interpret complex datasets and to develop and deploy predictive models and algorithms that can be used to solve business problems.
What are data engineers responsible for
Some are responsible for designing, and implementing data security and privacy measures, monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues as they arise
Data engineers
They are responsible for maintaining data pipelines, integrating data from various sources, and ensuring that data is accurate, consistent, and accessible to analysts and other stakeholders.
Data engineer
Designs, builds and manages infrastructure that supports data processing, storage and retrieval.
Machine learning engineer
Specialize in developing, designing, and deploying AI models to solve complex problems. They oversee creating AI algorithms to make predictions that define machine learning
Decision scientist
An expert in developing decision models, focuses on creating and applying mathematical and statistical models to optimize decision-making processes and outcomes. They use scientific and mathematical techniques to understand problems, develop solutions to complex issues, and understand complex systems.
Business intelligence analyst
One primary function of a BI analyst is locating patterns or other trends that correlate to potential areas of improvement.
Other functions include: Sharing and presenting data, once a BI analyst collects data, they need to share these findings, this includes utilizing graphs and charts and creating reports
What are the responsibilities of a data analyst in a data analytics project?
Designing and implementing valid analytical methods, ensuring that the overall objectives of the analytics projects are met.
Exploratory analytics
Involves exploring and analyzing data to identify potential trends, patterns, and relationships. It is often used when there is no clear objective or question to answer, and the goal is to uncover new insights or opportunities
Precriptive analytics
This type of analytics recommends actions that can be taken to optimize or improve a situation. Considers data analysis and modeling to provide specific recommendations on what to do next.
Answers questions such as “What should we do?” and “How can we improve the outcome?”
Predictive analytics
Using historical data to forecast outcomes, helps to answer questions such as “What is likely to happen in the future?” and “How can we prepare for it?”
Diagnostic analytics
Analyzes past data to identify the root causes of specific outcomes or events. Answers question such as “Why did an event happen?” and “What caused it to happen?”
Descriptive analytics
This type of analytics focuses on summarizing and describing historical data to provide insights into past trends and patterns. Helps to answer questions such as “What happened?” and “How many times did it happen?”
Identify data analytics projects:
- Descriptive analytics
- Diagnostic analytics
- Predictive analytics
- Prescriptive analytics
- Exploratory analytics
Data scientists
Design and construct new processes for data modeling and production using prototypes, algorithms, predictive models, and custom analysis.
Data analysts
Examine large data sets to identify trends, develop charts, and create visual presentations to help businesses make more strategic decisions
Difference between data science and data analytics
Data science often involves using outcomes, while data analytics tends to focus more on analyzing past data to inform decisions in the present
Data science
A field of study that involves using computational and statistical techniques to extract insights and knowledge from data
Data analytics
A coming together to solve a business problem through the creative use of data and statistical modeling to tell a compelling story that rives strategic action and results in business value
