Sea Level Change Flashcards
What is Eustatic Change?
Change in Global sea levels, usually caused by climate change.
What is Isostatic Change?
Change in local sea levels, often caused by the formation and melting of huge glaciers.
What causes Isostatic Depression
The formation of huge glaciers that weight down and push down the land beneath it, effectively raising the sea levels by lowering the land.
What is Isostatic Rebound?
When the land rises as glaciers melt, putting less weight on the land. This effectively causes local sea level drop, as the land around it rises.
What does Anthropogenic mean?
Effects caused by humans
