briefly describe SDG 3
- aims to improve physical and mental health and wellbeing in all countries by reducing morbidity and mortality
- it aims to reduce maternal, infant and under five mortality as well as premature mortality from both non communicable and communicable diseases.
- aims to reduce injuries and death from road trauma as well asa dress substance abuse
- aims to ensure universal health coverage and universal access to sexual and reproductive heath care services

reduce the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100,000 live births
how is maternal mortality caused
haemorrhage (excessive bleeding)
sepsis (infection)
obstructed labour (baby cannot pass through birth cannel)
unsafe abortion
hypertensive disease (heart condition caused by high blood pressure)
how to improve maternal mortality
- increase access to sexual and health services
- more skilled health professions at birth
- fewer adolescents becoming pregnant (as their bodies are not abler to cope)
- greater access to family planning (contraceptives)

To end preventable deaths of newborns and children under the age of 5 years old
how can we improve child health and wellbeing
- vaccinations
- mothers have access to safe child birth facilities/medication/ health professionals
- access to safe water
- adequate food
- educated mothers
- research and development of new vaccines for tropical diseases
