What age start screening for lipid disorders?

A

35yrs

Strongly recommended that men are screened for lipid disorders at age 35, even in the absence of other risk factors. Screening would occur earlier in the presence of DM, FMHx of heart disease before 50yo, or with other risk factors.

A

Screening can be safely delayed until 3 years after the onset of sexual activity or age 21yo, whichever comes first.

A

USPSTF: stop at 65yo

ACS: discontinue at 70yo, but also who had three or more normal Pap tests and has had no abnormal Pap tests in last 10years

A

This patient should not be offered testing.

  • Two first-degree relatives, one of whom was diagnosed <50yo
  • Three of more first- or second- degree relatives, regardless of age
  • Combination of breast and ovarian cancers among first- and second-degree relatives
  • First-degree relative with bilateral breast cancer
  • Combination of two or more first- or second-degree relatives with ovarian cancer, regardless of age
  • A first- or second-degree relative w/ both breast and ovarian cancer at any age
  • Male relative w/ breast cancer

Ashkenazi Jews offered testing if any first-degree relative (or two second-degree relative) are diagnosed w/ breast or ovarian cancer.
