Scoring Flashcards
According to AASM guidelines in what pts is the occurrence of hypoventilation a recommended parameter for reporting?
Pediatric patients. It is considered optional for adults.
What are Arousals?
Arousals are defined as an abrupt shift of EEG frequency including alpha, theta &/or frequencies greater than 16Hz that last at least 3secs with at least 10 seconds of stable sleep preceding the change.
What is AASM guidelines for a significant leg movement?
8uv increase in EMG voltage above the resting EMG with a min duration of 0.5 secs and a max of 10 secs.
What is the AASM recommended scoring guidelines for hypopneas?
The peak signal excursions drop by =>30% of pre event baseline using nasal pressure, pap device flow
Duration is=>10 sec
There is a =>3% oxygen desaturation from pre event baseline or the event is associated with an arousal
What is the apnea hypopnea index ?
AHI is reported as the number of apneas & hypopneas per hour of sleep. It is calculated by adding the number of H & A events divided by the total sleep time in minutes x 60
25+5+23+15 =68
68/360 = 0.18
0.18 x 60= 10.8
10.8 rounded is 11
