Q

info

A

Neutrons are neutral and they live in the nucleus
2. Protons (+) live in nucleus & Electrons (-) orbit around the nucleus
3. They determine the properties of the matter they compose
4. A million times smaller than the diameter of a human hair

Q

info about mixtures

A

Heterogeneous Mixture would be like a salad
2. Homogeneous Mixture would be like orange juice
3. Solvent: The majority of the mixture (water usually)
4. Solute: The other substances in a solution (sugar, orange pulp, etc…)

Q

Solutions

A

Are evenly mixed, and two samples from a solution will have the same amount of each substance
Example salt water
Also a solution is also called homogeneous mixture

17
Q

more info to know

A

Some physical properties, such as mass and volume, depend on the size or amount of matter.

18
Q

Mass:

A

is the amount of matter in an object

19
Q

info about mass

A

Mass is the amount of matter in something
But weight is the pull of gravity on the matter ( make sure you know the difference)
The larger dumbbells have greater mass than the smaller ones because they contain more matter

20
Q

Volume:

A

it is a physical property that depends on the size or the amount of a substance is volume. Also is the amount of space something takes up

21
Q

Size independent Properties:

A

Size independent properties are melting point, boiling point, density, electric conductivity, and solubility
When a solid changes to a liquid that is the melting point.
From a liquid to the gas that is the boiling point
Doesn’t matter how much water is in the container it matters how hot it is

22
Q

Density:

A

is the mass per unit volume of a substance. Also Melting point and boiling point, density is a size-independent property.

23
Q

Conductivity:

A

Another property that is independent
Electrical conductivity is the ability of matter to conduct, or carry along, an electric current

24
Q

Solubility:

A

is the ability of one substance to dissolve in another

25
info about solubility
For example the powdered drink mix is soluble in water, but sand is not. Conductivity and solubility can be used to identify objects and separate mixtures.
26
Bonds:
A force between atoms or groups of atoms
