specific epithet - adjective ALWAYS lowercase and in italics
Variety
unique/different from the species that was discovered in nature. ALWAYS in Italics - can use var. or v (not italics)
Cultivar
unique/different than the species that was Created.
ALWAYS capitalized. NEVER Italicized.Should be in single quotes
Hybrid
cross-breeding and offspring for specific traits “x”
Intergeneric
2 different Genera w/in SAME family - always has “x” in front of genus
Interspecific
chance or controlled cross between 2 related species of the same genus
Intraspecific
controlled cross between 2 members of the same species w/unique traits w/in species
FI
2 specifically “created” inbred lines(petunia,marigold,pansy) Their seeds will not create the same as they are
FI Hybrid series
implies a series of distinct lines w/differences usually only in flower color (Imaptients)
