Scientific Method/Metric System Vocab Flashcards
What is the control group?
The control group has no changed variables and stays the same throughout the whole experiment.
What is a hypothesis?
A hypothesis is an educated guess based on the observation and research of the problem. You should also include an IF…THEN… statement when forming a hypothesis.
What is the experimental group?
The experimental group is the group that can be changed.
What is an independent variable/manipulated variable?
The independent variable is what the person conducting the experiment changes or it is what they are testing.
What is the dependent variable/responding variable?
The dependent variable is what the investigator measures, or what data he collects.
What are constants?
Constants are all of the factors that are the same in the experimental group and the control group.
What is mass?
Mass is the amount of matter in an object, mass always stays the same.
What is length?
Length is the distance between 2 points.
What is volume?
Volume is the amount of space an object takes up.
What is density?
Density is the amount of matter in a given volume.
