Scientific Laws Flashcards
states that equal volumes of all ideal gases (at the same temperature and pressure) contain the same number of molecules.
Avogadro’s Law
states that equal pressure is inversely proportional to volume (when temperature is constant).
Boyle’s Law
states that volume is proportional to temperature (when pressure is constant). Remember that temperature must be measured in Kelvin.
Charles’s Law
states that pressure is proportional to temperature (when volume is constant).
Gay-Lussac’s Law
Combining Charles’s Law, Boyle’s Law, and Gay-Lussac’s Law
Combined Gas Law
A chemical compound, no matter what its origin or its method of preparation, always has
the same composition; i.e., the same proportions by mass of constituent elements.
Law of Definite Proportions
If two elements form more than a single compound, the masses of one element combined
with a fixed mass of the second are in the ratio of small whole numbers.
Law of Multiple Proportions
