science unit test Flashcards
organisms can be single or multicellular
cells
Genetic material that controls structure and function of cells
DNA
Living things respond to a stimulus to maintain homeostasis
responding to enviorment
reproduce
sexual= 2 parent cells and offspring is not identical
asexual= 1 parent and offspring is identical
use energy
producers
consumers
how do producers and consumers get energy
producers= from the sun
Consumers=from other organisms
grow & develop
unicellular organisms- cell grows larger
multicellular organisms- get more cells and body changes
A student sweats after running a mile in gym. They sop at a water fountain and get a drink before heading to class. When they get to class they sit down and take out their notebook.
stimulus=
response=
maintain homeostasis=
stimulus= internal, temperature rising.
response= gets a drink
maintaining homeostasis= Body cools down by sweating out water the student drank.
what is carrying capacity?
The average largest population that an environment can support at any given time
What did Darwin observe in the Galapagos Islands with the Finch bird species?
That the finches had different beak on each island
Explain how the finches support Darwin’s theory of Natural selection.
The environment was different on each island and the finches that had traits that helped them survie reproduced.

dew it
what did Charles Lyell (geologist) discover
He studied rock layers and noticed that lifed changed through out the layers of rock
what did Thomas Mathius (economist) discover
he studied population growth and the affect the environment had on growth rates
- Explain how a species can survive after a major change to the environment that in which it lives
If they have the traits necessary to survive they reproduce
