Science test - electricity Flashcards
What is static electricity?
Static electricity is the imbalance of charge caused by the rubbing of two materials, causing electrons to collect on one material, giving it a negative charge, and the lack of electrons on the other material causing a positive charge. It can be caused by three main methods, charging by conduction, induction, as well as friction.
What is current electricity?
Current electricity is the constant flow of electrons through a conductor, unlike static electricity, which is the release of electric charge, driven by an electric potential difference (voltage) across the conductor, usually provided through a battery or cell. It is utilized almost everywhere, to provide light and sound.
