Science Test Flashcards
What are the levels of organization in organisms?
Cell, tissue, organ, organ system, organism
What function(s) do tree’s leaves carry out?
To capture sunlight to make food
What are electromagnetic receptors?
Receptors that allow animals to detect electromagnetic waves, such as visible light.
What is homeostasis?
The process by which the inside of the body maintains stable conditions
In a vascular plant, how do the tissues work together to maintain homeostasis?
Vascular tissue transports water to the ground tissue, excess water is released by the dermal tissue into the air.
During photosynthesis, sunlight shines down on the plant. What does the plant do with that sunlight?
Captures the energy
The heart and lungs work together to keep the body’s carbon dioxide level low. What 2 body systems are working together?
The circulatory and respiratory systems are working together
Which plant tissue is most similar to epithelial tissue?
Dermal tissue
What is the formula for photosynthesis?
6CO2 + 6H2O ——> C6H12O6 + 6O2
Name 2 products of photosynthesis
Glucose and Oxygen
What is the formula for cellular respiration?
C6H12O6 + 6O2 —–> 6CO2 + 6H2O + ATP
What are the products of cellular respiration?
Carbon dioxide, water, and adenosine triphosphate (ATP)
