science test Flashcards
state the things in the negative feed back loop in order
stimulas - receptor - control centre - effector - response
what does the stimulas do
its the event that evokes a specific function
what does the receptor do
recieves the information that a change has happend
what does the control centre do
receives and processes info from the receptor
what does a effector do
produces a change that reverses the intial stimulas - carries the reponse
what does the response do
carries out the change to make the stimulas back to neutral
what is homeostasis
the process by which the body maintains a state of balance and stability allowing it to function properly to survive. it allows the body to adapt and survive in a changing environment
what are the parts in the brain
cerebrum - parietel lobe - ocipital lobe - cerebellum - brainstem - temperal gland - pituitary gland - hypothalamus - frontal lobe - cerebrum
what does the cerebrum do
its the largest part of the brain and divides the brain into two hemispere so they can communicate
what does the brainstem do
connects the brain to the spinal chord and controls basic life functions such as breathing and heart rate
what does the ocipital lobe do and where is it located
is located in the back of the brain and is responsible for visual processing
what part of the brain is responsible for co-ordinating voluntary movements and sperates the two sides
cerebellum
