Q

What is Commensalism and what are some examples?

A

Type of symbiotic relationship between different species of organisms which one species benefits from the relationship while the other is not harmed, but does not benefit from the relationship (ex. small birds and grazing herbivores)

16
Q

describe the water cycle

A

Liquid water evaporates into water vapor, condenses to form clouds and precipitates back to earth in the form of rain or snow

17
Q

what are Competition and Succession?

A
18
Q

What is competition in regard to ecosystems and what do organisms compete for?

A

Competition will occur between organisms in an ecosystem when their niches overlap, they both try to use the same resource and the resource is in short supply.
Animals compete for food, water and space to live. Plants compete for light, water, minerals and root space.

19
Q

What is the definition of a biome?

A

an area classified according to the species that live in that location.

20
Q

Photosynthesis + Cellular Respiration: what is it and what is the process. – Word equations

A
21
Q

What is Primary Succession?

A

Primary succession happens when a new patch of land is created or exposed for the first time

22
Q

What is secondary succession?

A

when a climax community or intermediate community is impacted by a disturbance.

23
Q

What is the difference between primary and secondary succession?

A

In primary succession, a newly exposed rock is colonized by living things for the first time. While, Secondary succession is when an area which occupied by living things is disturbed or disrupted.
