Objective

based on somebody’s opinions or feelings rather than on facts or evidence

Hypothesis
a tentative explanation for a phenomenon, used as a basis for further investigation
Prediction
a statement of what somebody thinks will happen in the future
Experiment
a test, especially a scientific one, carried out in order to discover whether a theory is correct or what the results of a particular course of action would be
Theory
a set of facts, propositions, or principles analysed in their relation to one another and used, especially in science, to explain phenomena
Empirical
based on or characterized by observation and experiment instead of theory
Deductive reasoning
Infers what is true for a population will also be true for each individual element making up that population
Premise
a proposition that forms the basis of an argument or from which a conclusion is drawn
Inductive reasoning
Something that is true for a sample of population can infer its true for the population in its entirety
Models
something that is copied or used as the basis for a related idea, process, or system
Science
the study of the physical and natural world and phenomena, especially by using systematic observation and experiment
Self-correcting
able or tending to notice personal mistakes and correct them
