Describe a low pressure system
Warm, less dense air that rises
What type of weather is made by a low pressure system?
Rain, clouds
Describe a high pressure system
Cool, more dense air
Does a high pressure system contain more water vapor than a low pressure system?
No
What type of weather is assosiated with a high pressure system?
Nice, fair weather
What is precipitation?
When water is relased from clouds and falls down to earth
What are some examples of precipitation?
Rain, snow, ice, sleet, ect.
What is condensation?
When water changes from vapor to a liquid
What is evaportation?
When water changes from a liquid to a vapor
What type of pressure system is evaporation assosiated with?
Low pressure system
What is conduction?
When molecules transfer thermal energy from one object to another by collisions
What happens to the air during conduction?
It becomes less dense and rises
What is convection?
When warm, less dense air rises, and cooler, more dense air from around the warm air moves, and takes its place
What is a front?
When cold air meets warm air it creates a front, which is a boarder between the different tempertures
What is a lift?
When denser, colder air lifts the warm, less dense air up higher
