A solvent is the substance in the solution that the solute is dissolved in.

Soluble is the substance that can be dissolved in a particular solvent.
What is insoluble?
Insoluble is the substance that is unable to dissolve in a particular solvent. This is called a sediment.

A sediment is the substance that over time will settle to the bottom of a solvent in an insoluble solution.
What is a solution?
A solution is a substance made up of one substance dissolved in another.
What is a saturated solution?
A saturated solution in which the maximum amount of solvent has been dissolved. Adding more solute will result in a sediment.

A solute is the substance in the solution that is dissolved.
