What is an optical device?
An optical device is a tool or instrument that uses or manipulates light in some way.
What is the speed of light
is approximately 299,792,458 meters per second
How are shadows formed?
Shadows form when an object blocks light, creating a dark area on a surface opposite the light source.
How much light goes through an opaque
An opaque object does not allow any light to pass through it. Instead, it absorbs or reflects light, creating shadows when it blocks the light’s path.
how much light goes through translucent
Translucent objects allow some light to pass through but scatter it, making objects on the other side less clear.
how much light goes through transparent
Transparent objects allow most light to pass through them.
What produces light
Luminous objects emit light.
what does NOT produce light
Non-luminous objects do not emit light.
What are the different types of reflections?
Two types: Specular Reflection (off smooth surfaces like mirrors) and Diffuse Reflection (off rough surfaces like walls).
What is the imaginary line drawn perpendicular to a reflected or refracted ray called
The imaginary line drawn perpendicular to a reflected or refracted ray is called the “normal.”
what is convex mirrors
Convex mirrors bulge outward and reflect light outwards, diverging it. They have practical uses in various applications like car side mirrors and security mirrors.
what is concave mirrors
Concave mirrors curve inward and focus light inward, converging it to a focal point.
what is concave lenses
Concave lenses are curved lenses that cause light rays passing through them to diverge.
what is convex lenses
Convex lenses are curved lenses that converge light rays towards a focal point.
What lens Converges light?
Convex lenses converge light.
