science plumbing Flashcards
What is ductility?
The ability for a material to undergo a significant deformation under tensile strength.
What is malleability?
The ability of a material to be hammered or rolled into thin sheets without breaking.
What is tensile strength?
The ability of a material to withstand pulling or stretching forces.
What is compressive strength?
The ability of a material to withstand compressive forces without failing.
What is thermal conductivity?
The ability for a material to be able to conduct heat.
What is electrical conductivity?
The ability of a material to conduct an electrical current.
What is hardness?
The resistance to a material to scratching or wear, materials with high hardness are durable and are resistant to surface damage.
