Science-classification Flashcards
Why do we do classification?
We do classification to study all the different species there are in the world.
How its called this biology branch?
taxonomy or systematics
How many species we identified?
2 million and we think there are from 8-10 millions in total
What are the factors to consider?
-evident and less evident similarities
-differences
-internal structure
-development and reproduction
How do we actually classify?
-from smaller to bigger group based on gerarchy
-make groups based on similarities and differences
What are the 2 biggest groups?
Eukaryotic and prokaryotic
What is the meaning of prokaryotic and eukaryotic?
Prokaryotic means without a nucleus.
Eukaryotic means with a nucleus
What is the definition of domain?
The largest group of organisms
What is the definition of species?
The smaller group of organisms that can produce fertile offsprings
What is a hybreed?
A not fertile offspring, for example a donkey and a horse produce a mule that can’t reproduce
What includes the eukaryotic classification?
Fungi, plantae, animalia and protista
What includes the prokaryotic classification?
Eubacteria and archaebacteria
