Science Flashcards
What is the difference between unicellular and multicellular organisms
Multicellular- compose of many cells
Unicellular-compose of one cell
What is a cell
The basic building block of living things, that take in nutrients from food and convert into energy
Why are cells so small
Because there are trillions of them and need many of them to do there job
Give all cell organelles and there functions
Nucleus-directs cell activity
Ribosomes-protein synthesis
Endorse-plasmic reticulum-transport of proteins and other molecules
Mitochondria- power house of the cell, produces ATP
Cell membrane- selective permeability
What are stem cells
It’s what makes all of the other cells multiply
It’s the first step
What is a mitosis
Mitosis is the scientific term for nuclear cell division, where the nucleus of the cell divides in two identical sets of chromosomes
What are the phases for mitosis
Interphase Prophase Metaphase Anaphase Telophase
The difference between plant cell and animal cell
Plant-cannot change its shape, plastis are present, lysosomes are rare
WhT is the biological hierarchy
Molecule,organelle,cell,tissue,organ,organism,population,ecosystem
What is digestion
The breakdown of food
What is the difference between mechanical and chemical
Mechanical,is where food is physically broken down
Chemical,is where food is chemically broken down
What happens in our stomach
Digestion of food
What is the digestive system
Mouth Tongue Esophagus Stomach Liver Small intestine Large intestine
What is mitochondria
Mitochondria are often called the power houses of the cells, they generate energy that our cells need to do there jobs
