Science Flashcards
physical science
The study of non-living matter and energy
difference between precision and accuracy, and how each is determined
Precision is how close the measurements are
Accuracy is how close it is to the accepted value
element
A pure substance that consists of atoms with the same atomic number
compound
A pure substance consisting of atoms of two or more elements that are chemically combined in a fixed ratio
mixture
A physical combination of 2 or more elements in a changeable ratio
homogeneous vs heterogeneous
Homo: The same
Hetero: Different
isotope
An atom of a element that has a different number of neutrons compared with other atoms of that element, resulting in a different mass number
polarity
Unequal distribution of electric charge in a covalent bond
