What is a longitudinal wave?
Longitudinal waves cause the medium to move parallel to the direction of the wave.
What is a transverse wave?
Transverse waves cause the matter to move perpendicular to the direction of the wave.
What is the law of conservation energy?
Energy is neither created nor destroyed.
How do you calculate GPE?
Mass X Gravity (9.8 on Earth) X Height
How do you calculate KE?
1/2 Mass X Velocity (speed) squared.
How does a flow diagram work?
You start with an initial amount of energy and then you branch off the losses and end with your initial amount minus your losses.
What are the common components of an electric circuit?
Battery or Cell, Wire, Switch, Light.
What is current?
Current is the flow of electric charge (usually electrons) through a conductor, like a wire. It’s measured in amperes (A).
What is voltage?
Voltage, also known as electric potential difference, is the force that pushes the electric charge through a circuit. It’s measured in volts (V).
What is resistance?
Resistance is the opposition that a material offers to the flow of electric current. It’s measured in ohms (Ω).
What are the different types of circuits?
Series and parallel circuits.
What are the different types of heat transfer?
Convection, Conduction and Radiation.
What are the different measurements of a wave?
The crest is the top, the trough is the bottom, the wavelength is the distance between all of the crests and the amplitude is the distance between the crests and the middle of the wave.
What is the system that receives sound?
Auditory System.
What is the job of the ear?
The ear’s job is to convert sound energy to neurological signals
What is the job of the brain?
To receive and process the information.
What are the 3 sections of the ear?
Outer ear, Middle ear, Inner ear.
What are the parts of the ear in order?
Ear Canal, Eardrum, Hammer, Anvil, Stapes, Cochlear, Basilar Membrane, Auditory Nerve, Brain.
Which ways do periods go?
Horizontal.
Which way do groups go?
Vertical.
Who created the first atom model, the name, what was it and the date created?
John Dalton, Dalton’s model of the atom, particles are arranged in different combinations to form different compounds, 1808.
What is the Latin name of an atom?
Atamos which means Uncuttable.
Who created the second atom model, the name, what was it and the date created?
J J Thompson, Plum Pudding model, Protons and electrons, 1904.
What is a circuit diagram?
A graphical representation of a circuit.
