Science Flashcards
Mixture
Contains two or more substances that are not chemically combined
Colloid
A heterogenous mixture in which very small particles of one substance are distributed evenly throughout another substance. The particles are generally larger than those in a solution, and smaller than those in a suspension.
Suspension
A heterogeneous mixture of a fluid that contains solid particles sufficiently large for sedimentation.
Solution
A homogeneous mixture of one or more solutes dissolved in a solvent
Solute
The substance that dissolves in a solvent to produce a solution.
Solvent
The substance in which a solute dissolves to produce a solution.
Heterogenerous
A mixture in which the composition is not uniform throughout the mixture.
Homogenous
A mixture in which the composition is uniform throughout the mixture.
Dissolved
Particles are mixed evenly through the solvent to make a solution.
