sci prac Flashcards
how to state observations : adding solutions
state example
possibilities:
♡ state colour of ppt
♡ state initial colour of solution, then final colour
how to state observations : test for gas
state example
must record
♡ effervescence
♡ colour of gas
♡ smell of gas
♡ specific test for gas
how to state observations : heating of solid
state example
possibilities:
♡ change in colour of solid (before and after)
♡ change of state
♡ colour of residue on cooling
how to state observations : adding solid to solutions
state example
must record:
♡ solubility of solid in water
♡ colour of the solution formed
how to state observations : universal indicator
state example
record colour change of universal indicator
what is the test for oxygen
state entire procedure
- light a wooden splint
- put it out so that it glows
- put it into the test tube where oxygen is being tested for
- if it relights, there is oxygen
- repeat process as needed
what is the test for hydrogen
state entire procedure
- light a wooden splint
- put it into the test tube where hydrogen is being tested for
- if it extinguishes with a ‘pop’ sound, there is hydrogen
what is the test for carbon dioxide
- bubble gas from one test tube into another test tube with limewater
- observe the test tube with limewater, effervescence and white ppt should be observed
- if the above has been observed, there is carbon dioxide
balancing equations : acid + metal = ?
H2 + salt
balacing equations : acid + carbonate = ?
