Delusional Disorder Criteria
A. the presence of one or more delusions with a duration of 1 MONTH or longer
B. Critereon A fro schizophrenia has never been met
C. Apart from the impact of the delusions or its
ramifications, functioning his not marketly impaired and behavior is not obviously bizarre or odd
D. if manic or depressive episodes have occured these have brief relative to duration of delusional episodes
E. The distrubance is not attributable to a substance or medical condition or by another mental disorder
Delusional Disorder Types
Erotomanic: central theme is that another person is in love with the individual
grandiose: having some great, unrecognized talent or insight
jealous: his or her spouse or lover is unfaithful
persecutory: being conspired against, cheated, spied on, poisened, drugged, maliciously maligned, harrased or obstructed in the pursuit of long term goals
somatic: applies to the bolidy functions or sensations
can be mixed or unspecified
Delusional Disorder specifiers
first episode, acute episode
first episode, partial remission
first episode, ful remission
multiple episodes (acute, partial, full)
Brief Psychotic Disorder Criteria
A. Presence of one (or more) of the following symptoms. At least one of these must be 1,2, or 3
- delusions
- hallucinations
- disorganized speech
- grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior
B. Duration of an episode of the disturbance is at least 1 day but less than 1 month, with eventual full return to premorbid level of functioning
C. The disturbance is not better explained by major depressive or bipolar disorder with psychotic features or another psychotic disorder
Brief Psychotic Disorder Specifiers
marked stressor: brief reactive psychosis if symptoms occur in response to events
without marked stressor:
with postpartum onset: during pregnancy or within 4 weeks
Brief Psychotic Disorder Severity Levels
quantitative assesment of the prmary sumptoms of psychosis on a 5 point scale
Schizophreniform Disorder Criteria
A. two or more of the following, each present for a significant portion of time during a 1 month period (or less if treated) at lest one of these must be 1,2,or 3:
- delusions
- hallucinations
- disorganized speech
- Grossly disorganized or catatonic behaviour
- negative symptoms, ie diminsed emotional expression
B. an episode of the disorder lasts at least 1 month but less than 6 months. when the diagnosis must be made witout waitin for recovery
C. Schixoaffective disorder and depressive or bipolar disorder with psychotic features have been ruled out because either 1) no major depressive or manic epsodes have occured concurrently with the active phase symptoms or2) if the mood episodes have occured during the active phase su,ptos they have been present for a minority of the total duration of the active and risidual period
D. The disturbance is not attributable to the phsyiological effects of a substance or another condition
Schizophreniform Disorder specifiers
with good prognostic featurs: at least 2 of the following feayures, onset of prominent psychotic symptoms within 4 weeks of first notable changesconfusion, good premorbid social funtioning, absence of blunted affect
without good prognositc features
Schizophrenia Criteria
A. Two or more of the following, present for a MONTH, at least one of 1,2,3
- delusions
- hallucinations
- disorganized speech
- Grossly disorganized or catatonic behaviour
- negative symptoms, ie diminsed emotional expression
B. Fir a significant portion of the time since the onset of the disturbance, level of functioning in one or more major areas, such as work, interpersonal relations, or self care, is markedly below the level achieved prior to the onset (or in childhood onset failure to achieve expected level of interpersonal, academic functioning
F. If history of autism spectrum disorder or communication disordr of chukdhood onset
Schizoaffective Disorder Criteria
A. an uninterrupted period of illness during which there is a major mood episode (major depressive or manic) concurrent with critereon A of schizophrenia
B. Delusions or hallucinations for 2 or more weeks in the absense of a major mood episode during the lifetime duration of the ilness
C Symptoms tht meet criteria for a major mood episode are present or the majority of the total duration of the active and residual portions of the illness
D. The disturbance isnt due to substance or medicl condition
Schizoaffective Disorder Specifiers
bipolar type: if a manic episode is a part of this
depressive type: applies only if major depresive episode presents
